The Student Achievement Awards Ball is drawing closer and closer, it is starting to become very exciting and real. The deadline for nominations is 12pm tomorrow (Friday 17th February) so, in true form, we are starting to getting a steady stream of them coming in. I am saving the exciting part of reading about all the wonderful things you have all done until after they have all come in but I am expecting some excellent things.

The posters advertising the ball are coming out as I type and they are awesome – yay Greg!

The ball is being held at the Thistle, Altens on the 30th March this year. Tickets are 29.50 which includes drinks on arrival, a 3-course dinner and a celeidh dance.

So get your ball gowns and tux ready and I’ll see you there!

Last year I started a blog to keep you updated on everything that is going on with societies at RGU:Union. I will admit that I wasn’t great at keeping it updated. This year will be different. Semester 2 has started at University which means that Societies are back and so am I.

Every Sunday I will be posting on here the events of the upcoming week. Let me know what you are doing and I will mention you. It’s that simple.

I’ll also place occassional blogs about specific events that are happening; just get in touch and we can sort something out.

Watch out, there is a tiger on campus!

This year RGU:RAG are dressing up as a wide variety of animals in order to raise money for Children In Need. Each raggie dressed up has their own bucket so if you see someone in costume, there is no excuse to not dress up. Please give generously.

What’s on today….

As well as the previously mentioned LGBT meeting, we have:
– RGU Gaming’s weekly meeting happening all afternoon at RGU:Union
– RGU Fashion Society meeting at 6pm in the Union to discuss their plans for the year ahead
– RGU Pirates meeting in the Training Room at 7pm for a movie night. Free pizza and drinks

All events are open to any student

LGBT is coming to RGU

Tomorrow there will be an informal meeting for anyone interested in joining RGU’s newly revived LGBT Society. The society is open to absolutely anyone and everyone and is likely to be lots of really good fun.

At the meeting they will be holding elections for a committee. The positions up for grabs are:

• President
• Vice-President
• Treasurer
• Secretary

I am looking forward to seeing lots of people there, excited to join.

Sign Language Society

I have just had a very productive meeting with the President of RGU’s British Sign Language Society. Her society seems to be getting off the ground well with some good social events and hopefully will have a tutor lined-up for second semester. I am very excited. Watch this space…
